Vacation and Self-care

What a fun and exciting day. We got to experience so many new things. The weather has been beautiful and for that I am very thankful.

We drove a lot today and got to see so many neat things. The different architecture and historical nature make me wish I had majored in history or architecture. Maybe that will be a next adventure that I take.

As we spent the day in the car and walking about a few historical sites I realized I need my treadmill time. I need that time to workout. I was losing it by the end of the day. I hadn’t got to spend any time just by myself and I am used to that time daily. Usually I would do it super early in the morning however we didn’t get to our hotel until about 1am so early was out.

When we got back to the hotel this evening I told J and D that I had to go find the fitness center. I needed to get in at least a mile and lift some weights. I had to get a workout in or I was going to be a bear. I guess coming on vacation really made it apparent how much my “me” time is important. Taking care of myself is not only good for me but also for those around me.

The takeaway here: just because you take a vacation with your family doesn’t mean you neglect yourself.

If I wouldn’t have taken that short amount of time this evening I would have gone to bed early and wouldn’t be getting to spend quality time with J, A, and D. I would have been in a bad mood and probably said things I didn’t mean.

Self-care is so important on a daily basis and maybe even more important when in a new environment with the ones you love. Keeping a routine as close to possible will be great for everyone’s moods in the long run.
